That “If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem’, is entirely misconceived… If you are not part of the problem, you cannot be part of the solution.” BILL TORBERT
Coach Works is owned by Sue Hanley. Sue is part of a broad network of coaches who ensure that on their own journeys they are accompanied by other skilled coaches who are committed to each other’s ongoing professional development and support.
The methodologies used by Coach Works are shaped by four major influences:
- The Coaching Psychology Department at Sydney University, under the direction of Dr Tony Grant. Dr Grant is a pioneer in the development of solutions focussed, evidence based coaching.
- The wisdom of Sir John Whitmore, who with Tim Gallwey, is credited with introducing the inner game methodologies they used in sports coaching to the broader world of business and life in general. Sir John introduced what is known as the GROW model to coaching, but what is lesser known is that he is deeply committed to humanistic coaching and sustainable stewardship of planet Earth.
- Harvard theorists and practitioners, Dr Robert Kegan and Dr Susanne Cook-Greuter, whose work on developmental coaching is outstanding.
- The International Coach Federation (ICF), which defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Membership of ICF requires formal coach training, adherence to a code of ethics and professional development aligned to a set of core competencies.
